Asymmetrical Garment Features Accentuate the Positive

May 28, 2018

Asymmetrical garment features elongate your silhouette and trick the eye, thus making you appear taller and slimmer. This feature works with one-shoulder necklines, one-sleeved garments, asymmetrical hemlines, and also certain fabric color schemes. I’m in love with this beautiful cobalt blue number from Who What Wear featured in my Target collaboration. 💙💙💙

Gingham Style

April 7, 2018

Check out all the checks! Gingham has never been hotter than it is at the moment. Adding a vintage pinup touch to so many different wardrobe pieces, gingham plaid is such a wearable pattern. Hottest is the black and white combo, with navy and white coming in close second. The wonderful thing about this pattern is it’s chameleon-like ability to match nearly all accessories. Red, green, yellow and orange as well as spring’s white accessories all look on trend with gingham check. Why not unleash your inner pinup with this hot spring trend?

Pleats Please!

March 31, 2018

Lovely Pleats for Spring

What says springtime better than the colorful, dancing movement of pleats? This season, everyone from Azzedine Alaia to A New Day, to Chanel is featuring pleats for spring, and it’s not hard to see why! The basic pleated skirt in a longer length looks great with a vintage band tee knotted at the waist for a casual outing. The same piece also looks wonderful when worn with a classic sandal and a spaghetti strap camisole accented with your best diamond jewels for dinner. Comfortable, and non-binding, pleats are also wonderful travel garments. This season’s items withstand sitting for long periods without so much as a single wrinkle. With an item so versatile, comfortable, on trend, cool and downright stylish, why not channel your inner Marilyn and opt for one of these gorgeous skirts as you spin through spring?

Poolside at the Woodlands Resort

March 21, 2018

Spring break at the Woodlands Resort was amazing! What a great place for people with kids and vacationing couples alike! They’ve revamped the poolside menu and the food is outstanding! I absolutely loved the Mediterranean flair of the tomato, olive and mozzarella salad. It’s served in a bowl with spherical pieces of cheese mixed in with exotic imported olives, tomato chunks and mixed greens. I ate this every day, it was that good.

They’ve even added an ice cream stand for the kiddoes. The little ones can also enjoy movies in the pool each night and a live DJ on the weekend. There are hula hoop contests, and other games offered as well. The water slide with a waterfall is the show-stopping highlight for children and had a non-stop pattering of little feet racing to get in line the entire week.

There are several eateries right on the grounds. Robards, a top of the line steak house, is always packed. The Tavern, part of the original Woodlands Country Club, is more casual and has a delicious menu. My favorite was custom burger night. Each patron fills out a form a get a burger to your design. Also wonderful was the breakfast buffet.

On this visit, I took full advantage of the workout room as I am preparing for the Mrs. Texas United States Pageant, and getting my rear in gear for the swimsuit competition. There are several elliptical machines and treadmills. It’s a small facility, but has enough to hit all muscle groups. It’s very clean and well attended to.

The rooms at the resort are spacious and luxurious, equipped with cotton pique monogrammed robes, cloud comfy beds and beautiful views from every room. I especially love the poolside rooms which allow for easy running back and forth if you’ve forgotten something. The hotel also has four huge suites.

Also new are the ultra chic cabanas that we wasted no time taking full advantage of. Equipped with a refrigerator, fruits, chilled water and tanning products, its the way to go. You feel like you’re at a luxurious place far away. At 100.00 per day, it’s a great deal so be sure to call early to book.

The only downside to the resort were the yard guys with their blaring leaf-blowers that start outside the rooms at 7 am. We talked to the desk and hopefully they’ll start the work on the gorgeous pool grounds later in the morning. Also, there were a couple housekeepers who were less than friendly, including one who saw me coming behind her and dropped the door on my face. Not all were surly, however, there were many who were kind and helpful.

Overall, this staycation was as close to a world class experience as you can get minutes from home. The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center is the hidden crown jewel of Southeast Texas and truly has something to offer for adults and kids alike.

Four Must Haves for Spring

March 6, 2018

With the crisp and breezy days of spring upon us, we find ourselves wrapping our sweaters up and packing them in cedar chests. The excitement of a new season, and a new wardrobe, is palpable in the air. There are four wardrobe elements that you must have as you dive headfirst into the warm weather.

1.) Cute, Casual Dresses

These are the easiest to thrown on to go to the mall, put over a swimsuit for a visit to the pool, or to run out to dinner. It’s an instant outfit, it’s fast and simple and always looks good. Luckily, with retailers like Old Navy, ASOS, and Shein, you can find tons of these under 20.00.

2.) Something Polka Dotted

Polka dots are everywhere! From the finest couture collections to Target to middle of the road ready to wear, it’s one of this season’s hottest trends. Don’t go dotty with head to toe dots, but instead invest in something you can wear next year too. A pair of cute shorts, a sash belt you can wear with many things, or a cute off the shoulder top will Keep you on trend. This brings me to my next must have…

3.) Off the shoulder top

This is the top of the season. In fact, this is the silhouette of the season. Dresses, tops and jumpsuits all have this neckline. The off the shoulder top will look outstanding with jeans, cut offs, minis and skinny pants. It’s a romantic, cute, and oh so stylish look.

4.) White denim

Whats crisper and looks better with a tan than a white denim mini? White denim skinnies look hot with halters, tanks, and button down shirts tied in front. A cute pair of daisy duke cut-offs in white is about as sexy as it gets.

Yay for spring!
